When we talk about packaging design, we refer to the way a product is packaged—but it's not just about the graphic design of a package. Packaging design can be done for new products or for products that are already part of the company’s portfolio but need to be updated.

Packaging must achieve the following objectives:

  • improve communication regarding the product’s usage by providing all the necessary information to the consumer;

The product packaging displayed on the shelf is not the only type of packaging we can create. We can handle

  • Sales packaging (“primary packaging”) which refers to the single sales unit intended for the end user;
  • Multi-packaging (“secondary packaging”) which usually refers to boxes or cartons. This type of packaging, mostly designed for resellers, can also be used by end customers when the product is sold in multi-packs, or when the box can be converted into a countertop display unit.
Particular attention must be paid to the creation of both types of packaging, which must appeal to the end consumer.

- Packaging must be eye-catching. Since much information is now available online, packaging has shifted from an informational to a decorative role. That’s why today the main function of packaging is to evoke emotions and sensations through the use of lettering, materials, and colors.
- Packaging must be functional. Packaging must suit its intended use, meaning it should take into account the features of the product it contains. Let’s not forget that a key function of packaging is to protect the product and, if possible, reduce logistics costs and make the supply chain more efficient.
- Packaging must be sustainable. Now more than ever, consumers are concerned about sustainability. Green products have more appeal, making it essential to choose sustainable packaging that favors recyclable materials and minimizes plastic use. It's also crucial that the packaging includes clear disposal instructions.
